Walkers has launched a crisp packet recycling scheme following public backlash over the non-recyclable packaging. Customers will be able to send packages back to TerraCycle, which will shred them into plastic pellets to be used in items such as outdoor furniture and trays. It follows public campaign #PacketInWalkers which saw crisp fans mailing packets back to Walkers in protest at the non-recyclable material. Walkers’ owner PepsiCo has promised to make all packaging recyclable, compostable or biodegradable by 2025.
